Pastor Elizabeth Mokoro is among preachers who have been banned from ministering in any Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church across the country.

According to a statement, the outspoken preacher is not allowed to engage in any activities in or outside an SDA church.

Mokoro is also not permitted to associate herself with the church moving forward.

In a statement, Kenya Coast Fiels Executive Secretary Pr. Eliab Ombuoro banned Mokoro alongside four others, including Evangelist Lantena and Evangelist Millicent Odhiambo.

Others banned from the SDA church are Evangelist Shaban Ndege and Pastor Kenneth Maina.

“We wish to inform all that the named personnel are not authorized to conduct any kind of church service within and outside our territory. It is our hope that the communication will be adhered to,” the statement read.

Mokoro is not new to controversy.

In April 2024, she was forced to set the record straight over claims that she owned a splinter group away from the main Adventist church.

Speaking in a past event, Mokoro dismissed the claims, stating that the allegations were aimed at tarnishing her name.

“I’m not so sure how this thing has gone so around until Mokoro is the target, there is so much on social media about me. There is a write-up of all the offshoot churches in this country,” she stated.

Mokoro was also accused of being the leader of a singing group and there were also claims of her being the Pastor of a church called Mt Zion in Kisumu.

“They claim that I’m the pastor of Mt Zion, but I’m not, I have never been a pastor of Mount Zion, I am a member of Mt Zion, just like a pastor from the Conference(SDA church top leadership) has a church where he worships,” she said.

Mokoro also addressed claims that she resigned from work to start her own church.

“They claimed I have resigned, I don’t remember tendering any resignation letter, I am still an employee of Central Nyanza Conference. I have not resigned. They say I have resigned to start my Church and now I’m a social media preacher,” she added.

Mokoro further clarified that she has never advised children to quit school, as reports from social media claimed.

She said that the allegations indicated she had removed her children from a school to homeschool them.

“I have a responsible husband, he makes choices on where his children go to school. Our children have shifted from a school in Kenya to a school in the US. So I cannot ask you to pull your children out of school yet mine are in school,” she said.

Mokoro is yet to issue a statement following her dismissal from the SDA church.
