Nairobi County Woman Rep Esther Passaris recently handed over handcarts to two micro-enterprises in a bid to foster business.

In an update on her social media pages, the Woman Rep donated the handcarts through her foundation, Passaris Foundation.

Passaris noted that she settled for the business because it is one of the most common types of business that people opt to engage in.

“Micro-enterprises are an important part of our economy. Their simplicity and low start-up costs make them accessible and provide income-generating opportunities for entrepreneurs from all walks of life

“Courtesy of Passaris Foundation, we empowered two such enterprises with handcarts complete with 20 water containers,” she wrote on Facebook.

The initiative sparked mixed reactions especially during the ongoing anti-government protests which have seen people calling out political leaders.

Duncan: Pulling out in fuel guzzlers to dish out a mkokoteni, this is absurd, in this modern era?

Mary Mutua: What a backward way of empowering Kenyans.Thats why we need the younger generation with newer fresh ideas.

Wambui Waithaka: We know you received a big fat envelope! You no longer speak on behalf of Kenyans. What a shame.

Tarek Sayed: You come driving a superior vehicle to empower someone by donating a hand cart. Are you in your right state of mind?

Gilbert Lonayae: This is what GenZ is refusing. You cannot enhance the pushing of Mkoko for hundreds of years and you come here to celebrate them. Do something modern Madam.
