Fred Omondi: Day Comedian Survived Road Accident Along Mombasa Road

Fred Omondi one of Kenya’s most brilliant comedians died on Saturday, June 15.

The comedian who is Eric Omondi’s younger brother had previously survived a car accident some years back.

In a YouTube video from from Iko Nini podcast in 2023, fellow comedian Useful Idioty narrated how they got hit from behind by a drunk driver.

Idioty said the car rolled after being hit which left Fred badly injury on his chest and bleeding from the mouth.

The comedian said Fred went for treatment and to check for internal bleeding and was cleared as ok by the doctors.

Idioty said they were heading to Captains Lounge along Mombasa road and had taken the car from a friend.

On Saturday, Kenyans woke to the saddest news of the death of the former Churchill show comedian Fred Omondi.

Police said the accident happened after a bodaboda carrying Omondi was involved in an accident.

The motorcycle was hit by a speeding bus forcing the rider and his pillion passenger to land on the tarmac.

Omondi was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where he was pronounced dead while being attended to, a police officer said.

Born in Siaya, Kisumu County, Fred Omondi was a well-known stand-up comedian.

He was the second born in a family of four siblings: Fred Omondi (comedian), Rose Omondi (younger sister), and the late Joseph Onyango Omondi.

Other siblings include Irene Omondi and Pollate Omondi. In 2018, Omondi lost his elder brother, Joseph Onyango Omondi, who battled drug addiction for nearly 19 years.
