General Francis Ogolla’s Photographer Sergeant Rose Nyawira Buried

Sergeant Rose Nyawira, an Air Force personnel who died in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crash on April 18, 2024, was been buried.

The burial of Nyawira was conducted on Thursday, April 25 in Kirinyaga County.

Nyawira was General Francis Ogolla’s photographer and hails from Kagio town in Mwea West.

“We have been preparing for her burial with several people attending and today is her burial in my Kagio home,” her father Peter Wachira is quoted by Citizen TV.

Nyawira’s military colleague Senior Sergent John Kinyua also died in the helicopter crash and hailed from Kirinyaga County.

“Our sorrow as people of Kirinyaga county is magnified as we especially mourn Sergent Rose Nyawira, and Senior Sergent John Kinyua who was also husband to one of our staff Grace Wambui at Kerugoya Referral Hospital. May their families find comfort and may their souls rest in peace. Kirinyaga is honoured by your service to Kenya,” Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru mourned them.

Kinyua will be buried on Friday at Kirimunge village.

The helicopter crash claimed the life of Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.

Other officers who died were: Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu, Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.
