Politicians in Kenya make among the most well-paid individuals in the country. For this basic fact and logic, they are easily considered among the wealthiest people and presumably afford a life that the rest of the general public can but dream of.

In this article, WoK profiles the house of Dagoretti North Member of Public, Honourable Beatrice Elachi, who formerly served as the speaker of the 2nd County Assembly of the Nairobi City County Government.

Due to the monstrous salaries and perks, lawmakers are automatically expected to reside in some of the most luxurious homes in the country,

A first-time MP with the Azimio La Umoja coalition under the ODM Party, Elachi resides in a stately home in the Nairobi suburbs.

During an interview with KTN’s Art Of Living, Elachi gave fans a glimpse of her lavish home. The mansion boasts warm-soothing colours in the living room. It has a wooden ceiling, floor, staircase, door, and balcony.

The living room also has beautiful couches which the lawmaker says she has had for eight years.

The entryway to her living room has a pitch-transparent roof which allows rays of sunlight to illuminate that part of the house. The arc wall leading to the sunken living room boasts iconic art pieces. One of the pieces is from Langata Women’s Prison and the other she says was gifted to her by First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto.

Elachi’s dining room has Mahogany handcrafted dining chairs and a table which blend perfectly with the neutral palette walls and the rustic light fixtures.

The Dagoretti North Member of Parliament is a religious person and stands out a Jesus Portrait in her house. She uses her study room as a prayer room, noting that she loves the peace that comes from it.

Elachi explains that she was raised Christian and God has been merciful to her all her life.

“If my mum walks into my home and finds it missing, she will wonder what is going on.”

In her home, the MP displays accolades and a honorary degree which depict her inspirational path to success.

“I am working on a book called Chronicles of City Hall, which will enlighten the public on how City Hall operates, and it will be beneficial to anyone interested in running for office at City Hall,” said Elachi.

She also has a second living room within the house which boasts world-class appeal. It has a soft beige sofa set and a brown flowery Persian carpet. It also has a huge music system which she uses to unwind from a tiresome day by dancing to music with her daughters.

Elachi has amazing outdoor space, with spectacular views and beautiful blue and white furniture. Her screening room is cosy with earth-tone sofas, an enormous screen and Maasai throw blankets.

Her spacious master ensuite bedroom is bright, with a stunning handcrafted mahogany bed, a treadmill, and a walk-in closet.
