Popular Kenyan blogger Nandwa Isaac has apologised after publishing a report that Tanzanian gospel star Bony Mwaitege had died.

In a letter addressed to Mwaitege and his family, Nandwa said he was sorry for posting unconfirmed news and expressed his regret.

The blogger said he posted the story on two of his Facebook pages after getting a report from three sources.

Nandwa said after investigating closely he found out the musician was alive.

“To Bonny Mwaitege’s family and friends, my mum loves your songs and sorry for posting such misleading information,” he wrote.

Speaking to Millard Ayo, Mwaitege’s wife confirmed that the gospel singer is alive and well.

“Bony Mwaitege is completely healthy, he has come from a journey from Kenya and has arrived home safely, he is resting.” She is quoted.

Meanwhile, Kenyan gospel singer Stephen Kasolo has cleared the air on the viral death rumours concerning his friend and fellow musician Bony Mwaitege.

Kasolo said Kenyans should stop posting the reports of Mwaitege’s death online as the Tanzanian singer is alive and well.

The death hoax originated on TikTok and claimed Mwaitege was involved in a road accident and died on the spot.

Kasolo in a video on his YouTube channel shared that he had confirmed the musician was alive.

This sentiment was collaborated by another Tanzanian singer Mwangila.

Mwangila said this was not the first the death rumours had targeted Mwaitege.

He said other gospel musicians including him had fallen victim to it.
