Kenyan under-20 women’s national football team captain Jane Hato has been reported missing.

Hato’s mother said she last saw her daughter on Wednesday, August 14.

According to the mother, Hato was dressed in a navy blue tracksuit and orange sports shoes when she left home in Saika estate along Kangundo road.

She was carrying a black travelling bag when she left home.

The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) said the Kenya Police Bullets player was supposed to link with her U20 Rising Starlets teammates.

“Jane was expected to join her team for their journey to Ethiopia for the CAF women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers. However, she did not arrive at the designated meeting point, and her current whereabouts are unknown,” FKF said.

FKF urged anyone with useful information regarding the Kenya U-20 captain to contact the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Kenya Police Bullets FC CEO Chris Oguso spoke on the missing midfielder, assuring Kenyans that she is safe wherever she may be.

Hato’s phone was last tracked to Juja before it was turned off.

“Based on our preliminary investigations, she is in the company of someone she knows well,” Oguso is quoted.

“I don’t believe this is football-related. It could be a family matter. Our officers are actively working to determine her location and who she is with. Once resolved and the player is ready, she will rejoin her teammates in Ethiopia.” He added.
