Julius Kamau is a reputable businessman and the owner of Rainbow Resort, a state of the art hotel located along the Nairobi – Thika Superhighway in Ruiru.

He is also the proprietor of The Velvette Arc, a nightclub located at the basement of the property.

Kamau also runs Rainbow Guarding, offering security services to companies in the UK, which he founded in 1994.

Here is his story as told by WoK.

Kamau has dreams of owning and running a hotel since he was a young man.

In a bid to actualize his dream, he mortgaged his house in the United Kingdom where he had moved to for education purposes.

“In January 1998, I asked a Nigerian friend to put this dream into a real picture. He did it and I hanged the picture on the wall

“Every morning, I would look at it and say, ‘thank you Lord for giving me a wonderful five-star hotel,” Kamau said in an interview.

Later that year, he sent money to his brother and asked him to purchase a prime land where he would set up the hotel.

However, Kamau experienced the first hurdle in bringing his dream to life when his brother ended up buying a waterlogged abandoned quarry.

Despite this, he went ahead to seek the required approvals and together with his team of experts and architects, they set up Rainbow Resort.

“This has been my most fulfilling entrepreneurship journey that has given Ruiru Town a new impetus as a hospitality and investment hub. Our dream has been to create a facility that evokes good memory about the client’s stay here,” he once said.

The Ksh 2 billion resort boasts over 120 rooms and suites, and amenities like free high-speed wireless internet.

The establishment also offer their guests an unparalleled lifestyle experience including exclusive fitness facilities and an outdoor swimming pool.

Elsewhere, Kamau runs a security firm in the UK.

He worked as a security guard before finally establishing his own security company which is managed by his daughter.

Vélvétté Arc

Kamau also runs The Vélvétté Arc which opened its doors to revellers in August 2021.

Inside the club, the lighting is well thought out as the floor lights are matched to look like a runaway as they dot the grey and white ceramic floor tiles.

The walls have been padded with 3D panels which are soundproof and also enhance the beauty of the club. This is the case with the ceiling that has 3D light wallpaper, snake-lights and stage-lights.

The club has a raised stage that can accommodate a band, has a decorative laser cut barrier, augmenting the beauty of the club.

The Velvette Arc hosts live performances from time to time with the next event dubbed, Afro Ngoma Festival, slated for Saturday, May 13.

The dancefloor is big enough to accommodate hundreds of revellers who wish to shake a leg. This will definitely be one of the favourites spots for music lovers.

The establishment also has ample parking for revellers with cars, and security is also guaranteed and what you have to worry about is having a good time.
