Lady luck seems to be on former Citizen TV news anchor Kanze Dena side. Barely a month following her appointment as the Deputy State House spokesperson; Kanze finds herself as the Head of the Presidential Strategic Service Unit (PSCU), albeit on an acting capacity. This is after her predecessor Manoah Esipisu was nominated as an ambassador. Just as an aside, Esipisu was wee bit boring; his weekly press briefing lacked oomph and, surely, goodness, he won’t be missed. Kanze Dena is expected to bring sanity in the PSCU that has been rocked with disorganization in the past. In 2016, President Uhuru Kenyatta sent the overenthusiastic Dennis Itumbi who is in charge of digital and diaspora communications; Eric Ng’eno – head of messaging at the Presidency; Munyori Buku – senior director public communications; and James Kinyua – branding and events home. They were re-instated before the 2017 general elections.
Role of Kanze Deni
Her appointment as the Deputy Head of PSCU was geared towards “diversying the voices from the Presidency, focusing the concept of messaging with purpose” read part of the statement from Chief of Staff and Head of President’s Delivery Unit Nzioka Waita. “Ms Dena will take leadership of the core communications teams, including digital, messaging, research, branding and press. With expansive newsroom leadership experience, Ms. Dena has been tasked to focus on the President’s brand positioning, media relations and messaging with respect to the delivery of the Big Four agenda”, the remainder of the statement touching on Kanze Dena read.
So how much will Kanze Deni be taking home
The eloquent new face of State House communication team was earning just above kes200,000 when she worked at the Royal Media Service. Her gross pay, according to multiple blogs, has hit the kes800,000 mark. This puts her in the same league as Cabinet Assistant Secretaries (CAS).
Allowances
Her house allowance is pegged at kes250,000. Given her nature of job, she will be entitled airtime of about kes20,000.
Official car
She will be chauffeured in an official car with fuel and maintenance costs met by the government.
These are some of the perks the charming seasoned journalist will enjoy in her new post.
