Students from Kanyuambora Secondary School in Embu County visited Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe on Wednesday, August 7 for an educational tour.
The educational tour aimed at providing the students with an insight into the role played by the Kenya Navy.
They learnt how they defend and protect Kenya against sea-borne aggression.
Trip enhanced their understanding of naval operations and responsibilities.
The visit began at the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC).
Here the students were introduced to the Full Mission Bridge Simulator.
This is a high-tech training tool that replicates the bridge of a naval ship.
These simulations offered hands-on experience and insights into the essential operations and navigational obstacles.
These are obstacles encountered by naval personnel at sea, giving a realistic view of maritime operations.
The students later proceeded to the Kenya Navy Fleet.
Commanding Officer of the Kenya Navy Ship JASIRI, Lieutenant Colonel Job Gitonga, welcomed them on board the ship.
Students were taken through the various sections of the ship, each with its unique functions and capabilities.
Lieutenant Colonel Gitonga offered a motivating address.
He highlighted how the principles of discipline and success would be crucial.
In achieving success in both their studies and their future endeavours.
The tour ended at the Kenya Shipyard Limited.
The students observed the ongoing refit and maintenance of the Kenya Ports Authority boat, Malkia.
This visit provided them with valuable insights into the technical aspects of naval engineering and ship maintenance.
Kenya Air Force Gift to High School
Moi Forces Academy, Nairobi students were left excited after being gifted an aircraft by Kenya Air Force (KAF).
Moi Air Base (MAB) Base Commander Brigadier Samwel Kipkorir, led a delegation of Kenya Air Force Personnel in a ceremony to donate the Bulldog plane.
According to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), the aircraft will be used as an educational aid.
The aircraft will help aviation students at Moi Forces Academy.
