Car dealer Khalif Kairo has cleared the air on his participation in the protests against the Finance Bill.

The businessman denied he was motivated by money and said he had everything money could buy but love for his country was the driving force.

His defence comes as a section of netizens have accused him of being bought by the government.

The vocal businessman, who recently started an aviation company, got into trouble after calling for the end of the protests and encouraging dialogue with the government.

“People keep saying Kairo has been bought. Most don’t know that pale JetmanGlobal, we have multi-billion shilling transactions on hold ju Kairo alikuwa streets na hakutravel kuskuma izo biz,”

“Before these things happened, I lived a good life and even now I still do.
Learn to love your country. It’s not always about my money. I personally don’t worship money, otherwise, I have turned down offers to do very nasty things for money.” Kairo said.

In April, Kairo hit back at netizens trolling him on social media.

Kairo was engaging in a war of words with trolls on social media after the businessman introduced his girlfriend to the public.

Not to be put down by negative comments aimed at him and his lover, Kairo revealed he was hardened by his upbringing.

Taking to social media, the car dealer said he witnessed a murder at age 3.

He recalled growing up poor, planning a strike in high school and getting expelled.
