Lilian Ngala is the founder of Lilian Ngala Network, an inclusive community committed to empowering individuals to unlock their true potential.
Though the platform, professionals can register either as mentors or mentees after which they will be paired with partners to work with.
Prior to setting up Lilian Ngala Network, Lilian herself had been in the human resource space for over 20 years.
Here is her story as told by WoK.
Lilian has worked in the human resource field for over two decades, and launched Lilian Ngala Network in October 2023 to give professionals a platform to learn and collaborate.
Professionals can join the network either as mentors willing to assist others or mentees looking for help from other professionals.
“This is an academy sort of where for six months participants are groomed to unlock the full potential upon which they graduate and they are passed on to be the best versions they can be,” Lilian said.
This was, Lilian noted that by matching mentoring and coaching, many professionals will easily achieve their goals.
“Sometimes we just need to be handheld and shown the way and someone who can speak about us when we’re not in the room,” she said.
With her rich experience and working with giant companies such as Diamond Trust Bank, Lilian explained that academic qualifications are sometimes not enough.
“There are doors that can only be opened by networks. We are now embarking on an exciting journey of strategic networking to unlock our true potential to become active contributors and not passive actors in our different spheres,” she added.
The network also organises meetings between mentors and mentees from time to time giving them.an opportunity to access their progress.
“Remember, networking is the surest way to becoming the best version of yourself. Deep human connections will take you to places where degrees alone won’t suffice! Let’s grow, learn, and make a difference together,” Lilian said.
Lillian served as the HR Director at Diamond Trust Bank and has sat on several boards including the Institute of Human Resources, Kenya Institute of Bankers, KENIC and National Industrial Training Institute.
Additionally, Lilian holds a PhD in Human Resource Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is certified as a professional trainer by International Human Resource Managemen (IHRM).
In 2022, she was named as one of the Top 50 Leaders Shaping the Future of HR in Africa, a year after the Nation Media Group recognized her as one of the Top 20 Women Making a Difference in Kenya.
Lilian has also been featured on top TV stations including Citizen TV, and is a regular contributor to Daily Nation and Business Daily newspapers.
