Major George Magondu: Kenyans Notice Interesting Details in Pilots Obituary

Kenyans have been left amazed by the obituary of the pilot of the military helicopter that crashed with Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.

Major George Benson Magondu died aged 29 with his family publishing his obituary in major dailies in the country.

In his obituary, Kenyans noticed that Magondu is married to a fellow officer with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Brenda Atieno Okello, Magondu’s wife is a KDF captain.

Major Magondu’s brother-in-laws are police officers and another works with Kenya Airways.

Two sisters-in-law are also in the KDF, which shows serving in the uniformed services is in the family blood.

Major Magondu’s father Charles Magondu Wachira is a teacher at Kahawa Garrison School and previously worked at Moi Forces Academy.

Netizens said the obituary showed the family as true patriots who worked on protecting and defending the nation.

Major Magondu, General Francis Ogolla and eight other senior KDF officers died in a tragic chopped crash in the Sindar area of Elgeyo Marakwet County on Thursday, April 18.

Other officers who died were: Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.

The burial of Nyawira was conducted on Thursday, April 25 in Kirinyaga County.

Nyawira was General Francis Ogolla’s photographer and hails from Kagio town in Mwea West.
