Martin Mugo: How I turned Ksh15,000 capital Into A Thriving Multi-Million Company Within Years

Martin Mugo, the CEO and founder of Autotronix Services Ltd,  transformed his passion for cars and technology into a thriving business.

With humble beginnings , Mugo started his company with just Ksh15,000 and has grown it into a Multi-million profitable enterprise.

A Passion Ignited

From a young age, Martin Mugo’s love for technology and cars was evident.

Fascinated by the technology gadgets around his house, he knew he wanted to explore the possibilities they offered.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in IT, Mugo’s father gave him a modest sum of ksh15,000 as seed capital to start his own business.

Driven by his passion for cars, Mugo decided to delve into the automotive industry, seeking opportunities available for young entrepreneurs.

Armed with his IT background, Martin Mugo turned to online resources like YouTube and Google to expand his knowledge of the automotive sector.

He spent countless hours watching videos and participating in forums to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements.

With the initial investment of Sh15,000, Mugo purchased essential equipment and began taking on small projects in the automotive industry, honing his skills and gaining practical experience.

Taking the Leap

Although Mugo had a successful career in the IT department at Amref Health Africa, he yearned for the freedom and autonomy of being his own boss.

In 2014, he made the brave decision to leave his job and establish Autotronix Services Ltd.

Located in Nairobi’s Ojijo Road, Parklands, the company started with just one employee and a handful of clients.

Mugo was determined to turn his vision into a reality, and his unwavering focus and determination guided him through the initial challenges.

“It was a daring adventure because I was coming out of the corporate world and diving into business. However, I had my eyes fixated on the end goal which has always been my passion for cars. Having the past business experience, I had the patience to wait until I broke even and here I am now,” Mugo said in an earier interview with Business Daily.

Autotronix Services Ltd faced the challenge of introducing and marketing their products and services in a crowded marketplace.

However, Mugo’s turning point came when he went above and beyond to exceed his first client’s expectations.

Word of mouth spread rapidly, and the reputation of Autotronix Services Ltd for delivering exemplary service began to grow.

Mugo and his small team worked tirelessly to provide outstanding customer service, gradually expanding their client base and increasing the number of repeat customers.

Expansion

Through their commitment, Autotronix Services Ltd thrived, and Mugo’s hard work paid off.

Today, the company employs ten people and operates in over ten counties in Kenya, including major cities such as Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Kajiado.

Autotronix Services Ltd has diversified its offerings, specializing in car key repair and programming, car security solutions, fleet management, and real-time monitoring of moving assets.

Strategic partnerships with renowned car brands such as Toyota, Suzuki, Porsche, Honda, Audi, Bentley, and Mercedes-Benz have further cemented the company’s reputation .

Beyond Autotronix Services Ltd

Martin Mugo’s entrepreneurial spirit goes beyond Autotronix Services Ltd.

Apart from running his successful company, Mugo is also involved in car imports and owns another business called Premium Rates Service Provider.

Additionally, he actively participates in the Business Network International, a platform that connects entrepreneurs and fosters collaboration and growth.
