Gladys Muthoni, famously known as Muthoni wa Kirumba, is a seasoned radio presenter. She ranks among the best vernacular presenters in the country. Away from the media, she enjoys a huge following who are drawn to her amiable personality.
Here is her profile as told by WoK.
Career
For 12 years, she worked at Kameme FM where she hosted Canjamuka Show alongside Kihenjo and the duo’s superb chemistry endeared them to listeners.
Prior to joining Kameme FM, she was a presenter at Bahasha FM, a station owned by former Member of Parliament John Matutho.
On 3rd June, the presenter quit her job.
“It’s been good working with Kameme FM for 12 good years of laughter and love. Thanks to my listeners… It’s been awesome. Asante Kameme. It’s time to say goodbye,” Muthoni Wa Kirumba said in her farewell message.
School
While in school, the media personality was a hellraiser who often found herself in trouble.
In a previous YouTube interview with Dan Wainaina, Muthoni recalled that she was suspended several times for breaking school rules and drug trafficking.
Once, in a fit of anger, she hit a motivational speaker whom she thought was targeting her in his message. According to her, she used to grow cabbages in the school garden as required of agriculture students.
“I came with some in the Christian Union, and as I was listening, the man used examples that were directed at me since he knew I was naughty.”

As the speaker was praying, Muthoni hit him with the cabbage. The man ran away and she was punished but she revealed they later met and reconciled.
Later in life, she would get into trouble after slapping her co-presenter Keziah. She had been informed that Keziah was spreading false rumors about her. When they were on air, Muthoni apparently noticed Keziah was sneering at her and so she confronted her but was met with a shrug. As the studio music ended, she slapped Muthoni and was suspended for two weeks as a result. Keziah was also suspended for a week.
Family
The successful presenter is a single mother of one boy. In 2021, she shared photos of the then 6-year-old boy on her social media pages.
