The current Principal of Nanyuki High School Mr. Oliver Minishi who is known to bring the very best in students. Under his tutelage, he guided his former school Kakamega High to excel in co-curricular activities and academics. His former school was a powerhouse in rugby, drama and football. This is the same philosophy he employed when he joined Nanyuki High although at first he almost resigned when he was informed of his new posting:
“When I received news of my transfer, I almost resigned. But a voice told me: Oliver, there’s a young person who needs you…”
His midas touch was felt in less than two years in Nanyuki High making the school one of the sought after by candidates who sat for KCPE examinations in 2020.
The school had a total of 154,524 applicants fighting for 384 slots available at Nanyuki High.

Co-curricular Activities
His love for the arts is undeniable. It was under his stewardship that Butere girls won the 1989 play ‘A Step in the Mind’ at the national level. Minishi was transferred to Bungoma High School and later Kakamega High School where he continued to win more drama titles with the institution.
The maths and physics teacher is replicating his winning ways in Nanyuki High. The institution won the Rift Valley region with the play Nail in The Flesh.
Challenges
The principal said one of the biggest challenges he faces is convincing parents the importance of arts. “At times parents do not want to appreciate the arts….”
