The family of Nelson Munene Kimathi in the U.S. is raising funds for burial expenses after he was shot several times and killed.

Munene is reported to have been killed by a homeowner in Denver, Colorado after entering the house late at night.

“A startled resident shot and killed a man who was intruding in their apartment early Sunday morning,” according to the Denver Police Department.

An initial call of a shooting came in around 1 a.m., according to a police department spokesperson.

Police officials said a surprised resident shot the intruder inside their home.

Munene was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened on July 21.

A post on GoGoFundMen by Munene’s family hopes to raise $30,000 to cater for funeral expenses.

Munene’s family described him as “an obedient, fun-loving, adventurous, jovial, kind and sensitive soul”.

They said he  loved the outdoors, travel, and hanging out with friends, colleagues and family.”

A Kenyan man who had been jailed in Nova Scotia, Canada, died, and speculation is rife over the mysterious circumstances in which his life ended.

The man named Charles Mangapi died less than two months after he was sent to the Springhill Institution to serve a two-year sentence starting on June 7, 2024.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) affirmed that he was indeed in custody when he died.

They declined to reveal further details about his death, stating that investigations were still pending.

“On July 13, 2024, Charles Mangapi, an inmate from Springhill Institution, died while in our custody,” the CSC’s statement read.
