Tumaini Gardens resort, located in the captivating landscape of Kajiado County, has earned a reputation as one of the premier dining establishments in the area, attracting food enthusiasts from far and wide.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality extends beyond the food itself.

The ambiance is carefully curated to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, inviting guests to relax and savor their dining experience.

The Hotel is owned by Mr & Mrs Njoroge who left behind their successful careers, to set out to establish Tumaini Gardens.

Here is their story as told by WoK.

Building a Dream

In 2009, William and Rose Njoroge purchased a neglected 10-acre plot of land, 25 kilometers from Kitengela town.

Initially intended as a simple cottage for their family’s weekend getaways, their friends soon began requesting stays at the cottage.

Recognizing an opportunity, the Njoroges decided to transform their cottage into a full-fledged resort.

However, this ambitious venture came with its fair share of challenges.

Financial strains and doubts along the way tempted them to quit, but their unwavering determination pushed them forward.

They sold assets and sought a loan to finance the construction, ultimately completing the first phase of Tumaini Gardens Resort in 2014.

A Tranquil Escape

Tumaini Gardens Resort, nested amidst the serene plains of Isinya,  become a sought-after destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat.

As of 2014, the resort, offered 16 rooms with plans for expansion, stands out by deliberately excluding televisions from the guest rooms.

The Njoroges believe in providing an environment free from external distractions, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature.

From the balconies, guests could enjoy stunning views of wild animals like wildebeest, zebra, and giraffes roaming freely nearby.

Culinary Delights and Organic Farming

At the heart of Tumaini Gardens Resort lies a culinary experience curated by Rose Njoroge, the resort’s executive chef.

Rose, a former human resource executive, pursued her passion for cooking by undergoing extensive food and beverage training.

The resort prides itself on offering delectable meals made from approximately 60 percent organic produce grown on-site.

The absence of televisions in the rooms encourages guests to savor their meals in the resort’s restaurant, surrounded by picturesque gazebos that provide breathtaking views of the gardens and the natural surroundings.

Tumaini Gardens Resort has also become a favored location for conferences and team-building events, attracting foreign envoys and diverse groups.

Meanwhile, the Njoroges’ love for gardening has transformed Tumaini Gardens Resort into an oasis of lush greenery.

Inspired by their travels and various landscapes, they meticulously designed the gardens.

From well-manicured lawns to stunning flower beds adorned with ceramic pots, the gardens provide a feast for the eyes.

Unique elements like stone slabs and limestone gravel add a touch of elegance to the surroundings, creating an enchanting ambiance for guests.
