Peter Mukuha Kago: How Billionaire Owner Of Naivas Supermarket Distributed His Cash, Land And Shares To His Children

The founder of Naivas Supermarket Peter Mukuha Kago, who died on May 6, 2010, left a will detailing how his vast wealth would be distributed.

Since 2012, his children have been engaging in legal tussles over the estate

His son Simon Gashwa, now deceased, was appointed administrator of the estate on October 6, 2016.

His death put a spin on the distribution of the estate until a recent ruling that granted the administration of the state to his siblings David Kimani Mukuha and Grace Wambui Mukuha.

Cash distribution

The family patriarch directed that cash held in the fixed account at ABSA (formerly Barclays Bank Ltd) Naivasha be distributed equally among the siblings: Teresia Njeri Mukuha, Grace Muthoni Mukuha, Ruth Wanjiru Mukuha, Newton Kagira Mukuha, Hannah Njeri Mukuha, Simon Gashwe Mukuha, Grace Wanjiru Mukuha, Linet Wairimu Mukuha, and David Kimani Mukuha.

Cash balance at the Kenya Commercial Bank and at the Post Office Savings Bank to also be divided equally among the nine siblings.

Peter Mukuha Kago, Charles Mukuha Gashwe, Mercy Irene Waithera, Jane Wangui Kagira, and Mercy Waithera to receive a further Ksh500,000 each from the Kenya Commercial Bank, Naivasha branch.

Shares

According to the will, shares held at the Standard Chartered Limited are to be sold, and the proceeds equally shared among the nine.

The will further directs that 20 percent of the shares at Naivas Ltd to be allocated as follows: Simon Gashwe Mukuha (4 percent), David Kimani Mukuha (4 percent), Grace Wambui Mukuha (6 percent), and Linet Wairimu Mukuha (6 percent).

Land Distribution

The Naivas Ltd founder distributed his plots as follows:

Linet Wairimu Mukuha-Plot No. 1/125 Kihoto. She will also receive a motor vehicle Reg KBD 162 F.

Daniel Mukuha Njau-Plot No. 42 in Naivasha

Peter Mukuha Nyoro-Kampi ya Moto/Menegai Block 1/89.

David Kimani Mukuha, Grace Wambui Mukuha, and Simon Gashwe Mukuha are to receive Plot No. 121 Lake View Naivasha, with House No. 1, House No. 2, and House No. 3, respectively.

His clothes to be distributed among family members while his ties to be donated to church.
