Principals Of Kisii And Nyamira Secondary Schools That Topped Nationally In KCSE Examinations

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results on Friday, January 20.

After the release, schools from Kisii and Nyamira counties prominently featured in the list of best performing schools.

The exemplary results can be attributed to among many other factors, the school principals’ contributions to the same.

In this article, WoK looks at principals of best performing schools drawn from Kisii and Nyamira counties.

Cardinal Otunga Mosocho

Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High school is an extra county school located in Mosocho, Kitutu Chache, Kisii County.

In the recently concluded KCSE exams, the school managed a mean grade of 10.76 with 28 students scoring straight As, 201(A-), 97(B+), 3(B) and 1(B-).

The school is headed by Chrispinus Owino.

Nyambaria High School

Nyambaria High School is a top-performing Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) school in Nyamira County, established in 1966.

In the 2022 KCSE exams, the school managed to pull a mean score of 10.9; 28 As, 383 (A-), 76 (B+) and one B plain.

The school is currently headed by Charles Onyari who took over from Boaz Owino who retired from teaching after 34 years.

Sironga Girls’ High School

Sironga Girls High School is a  girls’ only boarding school in Nyamira County.

The school was established in 1968 by departed former President Daniel Arap Moi as a harambee schools.

This was some 22 years before it became a girls’ only school and finally promoted to a national school in 2014.

In the 2022 KCSE exams, the school which is under the leadership of Eva Akeyo registered a mean score of 10.2.

St Paul’s Igonga Secondary

St Paul’s Igonga Secondary is a top performing boys’ only secondary school located along Kisii-Suneka road in Kisii County.

The school has maintained a good run in the KCSE performance, in the 2022 KCSE exams, the school posted a mean score of 10.24.

St Paul’s Igonga is spearheading by Masese Bonface Nyaosi.

Mobamba Secondary School

Mobamba Secondary School is a mixed boarding extra county school located in Nyaribari Masaba, Kisii County.

The school had a mean score of 9.3 in the just released 2022 KCSE results.

The school principal, Dr George Ogochi, joined the school in May 2022.

Kianungu Mixed Secondary

Kianungu PAG Mixed Secondary School is a public day/boarding school in West Mugirango, Nyamira County.

The school had a mean grade of 8.5 in the 200 KCSE exams.

Kianungu is headed by Walufu Erick Okoth who is the principal.

Nyabisase Secondary

Nyabisase Mixed Secondary School is a Seventh-Day Adventist school located in Bobasi constituency, Kisii County.

Although it did not produce an A student in the 2022 KCSE exams, the school managed a mean grade of 8.02.

Nyabisase Mixed Secondary School is headed by David Ogega.

Sameta High School

Sameta High School is a boys’ only school located in Gucha, Kisii County.

The school posted a mean grade of 8.6.

The principal of Sameta High School is Kenaz Rakiro.

Tumaini Boys High School

Kiage Tumaini High School is a private boys’ only school situated in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii County.

The school posted a mean grade of 9.3.

Kiage Tumaini High School is under the helm of Dr Joseph Kiage who doubles up as the executive director.
