Raila Odinga Receives Endorsement from Former Somalia Minister for AUC Chair Bid

Former Somalia Foreign Affairs Minister Fawzia Yusuf Adam is backing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s candidature for the African Union Commission Chairperson seat.

Adam announced her support for Raila after dropping out of the race for the AUC chair.

She was also a former Somalia Deputy Prime Minister and was seen as one of the main contenders.

Adam announced her support for Raila on her social media accounts and expressed hope for his victory.

“I am delighted to announce my support for the Right Honourable Raila Odinga in his bid for Chair of the African Union Commission. I extend my heartfelt wishes for his success in this important endeavour. Additionally, I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the governments and individuals who supported my candidacy earlier.” She said.

Former Prime Minister and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Political party leader Raila Odinga, popularly known as ‘Baba’, is the most influential opposition leader in Kenya.

Having been involved in the clamour for multi-party politics in the country, Raila is loved and loathed in almost equal measure.

Raila is the son of Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

The 79-year-old has been actively involved in politics since 1992 when he was first elected as a Member of Parliament representing the Langata constituency.

Since then, he has held different positions such as Minister for Energy and Minister of Roads, PublicWorkss andHousing,g among others.
