Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked the President for forgiveness.

Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet on Saturday, July 13, Gachagua acknowledged they failed the president.

Gachagua praised William Ruto for his decisions, including shelving the Finance Bill 2024 and sacking all Cabinet Secretaries.

He also commended him for personally engaging with Kenyan youth through the X Spaces.

“The President you are a hero and to all of us who have messed you up in your administration, kindly forgive us.” He said.

Gachagua said he is willing to help the president find competent and diligent individuals who can serve in his government.

“We are ready to assist you in coming up with a good team to help you in the economic transformation of the country.” The DP said.

On July 11, the president announced the dismissal of all his Cabinet Secretaries except the Deputy President and Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Ruto said upon reflection, listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of his Cabinet and its achievements and challenges, he had to make a decision.

“I have, powers given to me by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs,” Ruto announced at State House.
