Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has retreated to his Mt Kenya stronghold days after President William Ruto announced the CS nomination list.

The DP shared photos of himself and his team taking a dawn walk through Home Forest near his Mathira home.

Rigathi said it was refreshing for him to take the walk and described the tranquillity and peace during the moment.

“Morning walking is a great adventure for a strong body stature and an ignition of a highly productive mind. It was deeply refreshing taking my walk through the Hombe Forest, which is part of the Mt Kenya Ecosystem, neighbouring my home in Mathira,”

“The tranquillity of the majestic canopies was incessantly interrupted by the charming chirping of various choirs of birds and other animals, reflecting the enriching and therapeutic benefit of reconnecting with nature in such an intact ecosystem of flora and fauna,”

“It was encouraging encountering the people -farmers and traders -up early in their daily hustles of Nation building.” He shared.

The move by the president to include opposition politicians in the Cabinet has caused jitters to a section of Mt Kenya leaders including those allied to Gachagua.

The leaders said the move was aimed at displacing them from the State House despite the region voting overwhelmingly for Ruto.

President William Ruto on Wednesday, July 24 nominated more Cabinet Secretaries.

The new names in his list are Raila Odinga’s Azimio members.

Among them are Hassan Joho and John Mbadi.

Also nominated are former Kakamega governor and staunch Raila ally Wycliffe Oparanya and Opiyo Wandayi.
