According to RFH’s website, the doctor served in various roles in the public health sector prior to his role as CEO of the hospital.

He was the Deputy Director of Health Services and Medical Superintendent at Mutuini Hospital in Nairobi County. He was tasked with spearheading the upgrade of Mutuini Dispensary which was a Constituency Development Fund Built hospital operating as a dispensary to a level four hospital since it had been devolved into a county hospital.

Dr. Okoth oversaw the opening of the maternity wing, imaging department and the inpatient wards at the hospital. It began 24-hour operations, and now operates as a full-fledged hospital.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) degree from the University of Nairobi. He is also a Certified Public Accountant after graduating from Strathmore College of Accountancy.

He is also a graduate of Managing Healthcare Business from Strathmore University, Stanford Seed Transformation Program from Stanford Graduate School of Business and Senior Executive Program from Harvard Business School.

How it Started

He started the hospital as a small outpatient clinic using a loan of Ksh300,000 from his mother’s retirement benefits.

The hospital grew to now occupy three floors of one of the largest buildings in Ruai Town.

“It has been a journey and we are now making ends meet,” Dr. Okoth says.
