Sherlyne Anyango: How I Made Over Ksh30million From Private Shows

In the midst of the global pandemic, Sherlyne Anyango emerged as a prominent figure in the online world, captivating audiences with her appearances on Xtian Dela’s Club Covid, a popular Instagram show.

The show featured scantily dressed women dancing and vying for votes from viewers.

Sherlyne’s “dance moves” caught the attention of many, propelling her into the limelight and opening doors to other private shows.

During a candid interview with Presenter Ali, Sherlyne revealed the financial success she achieved during that time.

She proudly announced that she had purchased a stunning house worth Sh 25 million in cash.

“I bought this house. It was around Sh25 million, in cash. I was doing private video shows and people would pay handsomely.

“I also built a house for my parents and it was Sh4 million and then I furnished the whole of this house… I made over Sh30 million in a year,” she said.

With her newfound wealth, she even ventured into various business endeavors. In total, she claimed to have earned over 30 million shillings within a year.

However, amidst her financial triumphs, Sherlyne expressed regrets about how she portrayed herself on the show.

“Club Covid gave me a lot of money and it really helped me but I was butt naked on the show so that is not a good thing. I don’t like how I portrayed myself on that show,” she said.

The explicit nature of her appearances had negative repercussions, straining her relationship with her fiancé.

His family stumbled upon her photos and advised him against marrying her, deeming it a red flag.

“I was to get married at some point but the guy’s family looked up my name and they got to see some of the things I was doing on Xtian Dela’s show.

“The mzungu was in love with me but the family said that was a red flag and they advised their son not to marry me. That was an eye-opener for me,” she said.

The sudden fame and fortune that came with her online presence also brought about societal pressures for Sherlyne.

To cope with the overwhelming lifestyle she found herself in, she turned to drug use.

The fast-paced life, combined with the influx of money, proved to be a challenging combination for a 23-year-old.

“Covid period was the best for me. I got a lot of money. I could wake up and just be walking on money. My friends really enjoyed it but the problem is I got into drugs because I had not seen such kind of life before.” She said.

Sherlyne acknowledged that she had lost herself along the way, recognizing the difficulties of extricating herself from the clutches of substance abuse.

In the course of the interview, Sherlyne revealed that she was married to a white man.

However, their relationship faced significant hurdles, leading them to pursue a divorce.

Being apart for three months and struggling with communication issues had taken its toll.

Additionally, she hinted at complicated family dynamics that contributed to the challenges she faced in her personal life.

Despite the hardships and setbacks, Sherlyne remains determined to forge a new path for herself.

She disclosed her aspirations in the music industry, having already recorded several songs and collaborated with prominent artists like Redsan and Wakadinali.
