The Standard Media Group on Friday, 23 announced it has been given exclusive radio broadcast rights for the 2024/25 English Premier League (EPL) in Kenya.

The matches will be broadcast on the media house’s three radio stations: Radio Maisha, Spice FM and Berur FM.

The Standard says the exclusive license means that no other radio broadcaster is authorised to transmit or broadcast English Premier League matches within the territory of Kenya.

The company warned that unauthorised broadcasting or attempts to transmit these matches on radio would constitute a violation of Standard Geound’s exclusive rights and would be subject to legal action.

“Exciting News. The Standard Group PLC continues to be your exclusive home for the English Premier League on radio. Tune in for the 2024/2025 season’s top matches, live and uninterrupted.” The Standard Media Group said.

The Standard Group has shut down one of its major TV stations over cash flow problems.

According to reports, KTN News has now ceased to exist and it will be merged with sister station KTN Home.

Most of the KTN News employees have been made redundant.

The exception are a few who have been absorbed by KTN Home in its various departments.

The closure of KTN News is aimed at making Standard Group more leaner and efficient.

Farmers TV and KTN Burudani are also expected to be shut down.

KTN News was launched in July 2015.
