Baringo County is a land of great diversity. It is blessed with great geographical features that make it a wonderful tourist destination. Besides, Baringo also boasts of producing some of the best talents and witty individuals who have excelled in arts, sports and other disciplines.

Kibiwott Kandie
The 27 year old is a red hot athlete who has specialised in the 10000m and half marathon. He hails from Mogotio where he schooled at Ngentui Primary School and thereafter proceeded to Cheberen Secondary School. Kandie realised his athletic potential while in Cheberen and went on to represent the school at the national level.
He completed his secondary school education in 2015 and joined the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in 2017.
Kandie has mainly succeeded in the half marathon where he has romped to victory thrice in the Valencia Half Marathon. He also won the 2021 Instanbul Half Marathon. The athlete is a Commonwealth bronze medal holder in 10000m.
However, he has been unlucky by missing out on the World Athletics twice due to injury. He also missed the Tokyo Olympics due to the same issue.
Bruni Star
Bruni Star, real name Elias Kachiken is already making a name for himself by releasing infectious hits done in the local dialect. The Baringo prodigy sat his KCSE this year (2023) at Patkawinin Secondary School.
In 2021, his debut song titled Cynthia propelled him to a celebrity as it went viral on Tiktok after netizens lipsynced the lyrics. In an interview with TV47, Bruni Star revealed that his family was struggling to raise his school fees but he was optimistic that his music career would eventually pay off.
Currently, he has amassed over 8.5 million views on YouTube
Aldrine Kibet
The 17 year old hails from Poror village in Eldama Ravine Sub-county. His parents named him after the second man to land on the moon, Aldrin Buzz.
Kibet is a skilled footballer with a promising future. He began sharpening his talons at a young age where went on to be named the most outstanding player in the 2018 Wanyama Royal Charity tournament.
In the 2023 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) championships, Kibet emerged the most valuable player as he helped St Anthony’s Kitale to win their sixth national trophy. He then received a scholarship to join Nastic Sports Academy in Spain.
Nelly Cheboi
The 30 year old was feted in the Forbes top 30 under 30 outstanding personalities in 2022 due to her role in equipping young children with digital skills.
Cheboi hails from Mogotio and studied at Maryhill Girls where she scored an A and earned a scholarship to study computer science at Auguatana College in the US. In the course of her studies, she worked as a janitor and thereafter landed two jobs after her graduation in 2015.
Cheboi is the founder of Techlit Africa, an organisation which equips young minds with digital skills such as coding, music production and graphic designing.
At the start, she used old computers to set up laboratories in various schools. She was successful at educating over 4000 school children. Her initiative has seen her receive global recognition.
