Kenya has world class lawyers who have shown their grit in our local courts and beyond. While law may be a demanding profession, the rewards are worth every trouble. This list contains some of the richest Lawyers in the country as compiled by Prudence Minayo. 

Fred Ngatia

Born in 1956, Fred Ngatia is one of the most sought after lawyers in the country having represented top politicians and corporates. He successfully represented the late George Saitoti in the goldenberg scandal and also represented Kenya Airports Authority. He was the lead counsel for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the presidential election petition of 2013 and twice in 2017. The lawyer has two Masters degrees and over 40 plus years experience in the legal field. His estimated net worth is kes700 million.

Cliff Ombeta

He is one of the richest criminal lawyers in Kenya. Ombeta, who is eyeing a political seat, has represented drug lords to top politicians in the country.  The lawyer suits go for kes500,000 with his cheapest going for kes170,000. The lawyer claimed in a past interview that he cannot buy a kes30,000 suit.

James Orengo

A seasoned politician and lawyer who has seen Kenya undergo various changes from one party state to multi-partism to the new Constitution dispensation. He has represented a number of high profile individuals and successfully challenged the 2017 presidential elections that saw IEBC declare Uhuru Kenyatta president. This resulted in the historic annulment of the 2017 presidential results by the Supreme Court of Kenya. 

Jane Wanjiru Michuki

She is ranked among the richest people in Kenya. Jane owns Kimani & Michuki Advocates and has represented some of the biggest corporate clients in the country including Equity bank and Suraya housing. She is said to be the largest female stockholder at the Nairobi Security Exchange with an estimated net worth of $50 million.

George Oraro

George Oraro is definitely one of the richest Lawyers in Kenya having represented a number of high profile people as well as corporate clients. He is known to have successfully represented Henry Kosgei at the International Criminal Court and the Central Bank of Kenya in the goldenberg inquiry.

Githu Muigai

Born in 1960, he was the attorney general of Kenya from 2011 to 2018 and is extremely regarded for his work on public procurement issues and judicial review actions. After resigning as attorney general, he became a member of the UN Human Rights council and also announced that he would be going back to lecturing in the university. 

Fred Ojiambo

Admitted as an advocate of the high court in 1975, Fred mainly handles matters before the supreme Court, court of appeal, high court and other specialized tribunals .

Ahmednasir Abdullahi

According to an article by opera news, the lawyer makes not less than Ksh20 million per case. He is known to have represented the Independent  Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in the 2013 presidential elections. He was one of president Uhuru Kenyatta in the contested 2017 general elections. 

Donald Kipkorir
