Christianity is the largest religion in Kenya and with this, several pastors has been on the forefront of spreading the gospel.
With social media and their involvement in politics, some of these preachers have risen to become influential and powerful.
They have also been working closely with the government to organize religious events as Kenya continues to grapple with among others the drought and banditry attacks that result in massive loss of lives.
In no particular order, here are the most influential and powerful pastors in Kenya.
Pastor Tee Mwangi
Pastor T Mwangi is the Senior Pastor at Life Church International Limuru and also the founder of Truth Mentorship Society.
He is a former host of Angaza show on KBC, an a actor in Mchungaji show on NTV and director at Hotsource Gospel magazine.
Mwangi is a known Corporate Trainer and Conference speaker working with various institutions like Bethel Network and the Shift Program amongst other institutions.
Reverend Julian Kyula
Julian Kyula is the founder and Senior Pastor of The Purpose Centre Church based in Nairobi, and an accomplished entrepreneur:
He is also a sought after speaker and has received invitations to various platforms across the world including Oxford University.
Kyula is also the Founder of EDOMx, a fintech company dedicated to providing modern solutions to current consumer challenges.
Bishop Thomas Muthee
A self-proclaimed witch-hunter, Thomas Muthee is also a preacher and the founder of Word of Faith Church International.
He became internationally known in 2008, when United States vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, reportedly financed his work after seeing a video of him using spiritual mapping to identify and persecute a woman for witchcraft.
Word of Faith Church International, also known as Prayer Cave has 400 branches spread across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, and Gisenyi in Rwanda.
Apostle John Kimani
Apostle John Kimani who prebiotic worked as a prison warden is the founder of Kingdom Seeker Church headquartered in Nakuru.
He also owns one of the biggest prayer center in Kenya known as Heavenly Gates located in Gilgil along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
Kimani sparked mixed reactions years ago when he and his followers prayed and fasted for God to resurrect two of his junior pastors who had perished in a road accident.
Pius Muiru
Bishop Pius Muiru is the founder of Maximum Miracle Center located in Nairobi City Center along Letema Road off Tom Mboya street.
He made headlines in the run up to the 2013 General Elections following his prophecy that he would be Kenya’s fourth president.
In 2017, the preacher lost his mother in an apparent murder incident a day after she was reported missing.
Bishop David Ogide
Dr. David Oginde is the immediate former presiding Bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), and is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.
Apart from his pastoral duties, Dr. Oginde is actively involved in speaking into and influencing national policies and issues related to governance and leadership in Kenya.
He is among Kenyans who have joined the race for the EACC Chair post following Rtd. Archbishop Eliud Wabukala exit.
Arthur Kitonga
Archbishop Arthur Kitonga is the founder of Redeemed Gospel Church International.
He is better known for mentoring pastors, bishops, reverends and other servants of God.
He is also the founder of Arthur Kitonga Foundation founded in 2018, promoting access to education, welfare services, water, improve sanitation and contribute to environmental protection.
Mark Kariuki
Bishop Dr. Mark Kariuki is the Presiding Bishop and General Overseer of Deliverance Church since November 2000 when he took over from Bishop William Tuimising.
Before taking over, he was the Chairman of the Deliverance Church Ministers Council for several years though stationed in Nakuru.
Kariuki now chairs the Deliverance Church Council (DCC) which is the governing Council of the entire ministry.
Ezekiel Odero
Ezekiel Odero is the founder of New Life Church which was relocated to Mavueni, Kilifi County from Shanzu in Mombasa in 2022.

He pulls worshippers to his crusades in Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania the same way he does in Kenya.
Harrison Ng’ang’a
Bishop Harrison Nganga is the Kenyan overseer of Christian Foundation Fellowship Ministry and runs Faith Television in Kenya.
Bishop Ng’ang’a joined the full-time ministry in 1989, some four years before he was appointed a local church pastor.
Through consistency and hard work, he was later appointed by Apostle E.N. Benson as the Reverend and Overseer of seven local churches.
