2023: List Of The Biggest Malls Opening Their Doors This Year

As the economy continues to recover from the effects brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, investors have been going all out to set up new premises.

While retailers’ need for spaces continues to soar, developers are progressively constructing malls in Nairobi an other local towns.

In this article, WoK looks at new malls set to open soon.

The Cove

The Cove Is located on Gitanga Road in Nairobi.

The mall is targeting people living around Kilimani, Kileleshwa and Lavington areas.

The size of the mall is 50,000 square feet.

Crystals Rivers Mall

Upon completion, the mall will offer 3 levels of premium shopping experience with more than 100 local and international stores.

This will include an anchor supermarket, restaurants, entertainment, offices, hospitals and conference/exhibition facilities.

Crystals Rivers Mall seats on a 5-acre piece of land in Mavoko, Machakos County along Mombasa Road.

The size of the mall will be 215,000 feet.

Lana Plaza

The 16-storey mall is located along Oloitoktok Road in Nairobi.

Lana Plaza will host among others, commercial spaces on the first four floors, and it’s size will be 50,000 square feet.

Business Bay Square

When completed, Business Bay Square Mall in Eastleigh, Nairobi will be one of the largest malls in East Africa.

The mall is expected to host 3,500 shops, and hold up to 150,000 visitors daily with 2,200 parking spaces, 32 restaurants, 364 toilets and 12 banks.

Business Bay Square will also host about three major hospitals offering various services and facilities to outpatients.

The size of the mall will be 333,000 square feet.

Global Trade Centre Mall

The four storey mall is a property of the Global Trade Centre (GTC), located in Westlands, Nairobi County.

GTC which also owns the 184m-tall GTC Tower, was opened to the public in December 2021, in an event that was graced by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.   

The size of the mall will be 124,000 square feet.

Park Place Avenue

Park Place Avenue is located at the intersection of 2nd Parklands Avenue and Limuru Road in Parklands, Nairobi.

The size of the mall will be 23,600 square feet.
