To have one’s life cut short in the hands of a lover is one of the most hurtful tragedies. Constable John Ogweno became a household name in Kenya following his murder at the hands of fellow colleague and alleged lover Caroline Kangogo. The officer was shot dead and is pistol used to commit another murder by his killer. The news of the two murders has been the talking point in the mainstream media as well as on social media platforms.

John Ogweno was barely thirty when the cruel hand of death came knocking at his door. His family describe him as a peace loving man and his death definitely leaves an impact on those who loved him.

“Whenever my son realized that someone was inviting a contest over a given matter, he would readily surrender to avoid a stand off. If the controversy persisted, he would simply walk away to reduce tension,” said his father who could not understand why anyone would mercilessly kill his son.

Education

The slain man attended Hotel and Kako for his primary education before proceeding to Chuka High School where he sat for his KCSE in 2008.

The officer was married to Juliet and they had two children. Juliet even recounted to the media how she would often speak to Caroline. She said Caroline would ask about the welfare of the kids and even requested that they visit her to Nakuru for a treat. However, the wife had no idea that the two were involved in a relationship.

Career

Upon completing his University education, he was employed as a manager by Modern Coast bus services in Kisii.

In 2015, he left his position as manager to join the police service. He first worked at Kericho before being transferred to Nakuru where he met his gruesome death.
