Ole Sereni opened its doors to guests in 2009. The building was owned by the US Government and for a long time acted as the US Embassy. The 5 Star hotel overlooks the Nairobi National Park affording guests a panoramic view of the savannah. 

The hotel is conveniently located near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). According to a review on expertkenya, the food is excellent but the rooms are crammed. Part of the post read in part:

“……….its food is excellent and deserves its good reputation. If you’re staying here, the small rooms with thin walls are perhaps to be expected in a city hotel, but a frequent lack of attention to detail is also something to be prepared for”

Rooms

The hotel has a total of 134 rooms. 58 of these rooms are classified as superior. They have a walk in-shower and face the city. 

Deluxe rooms are 48 in total. Each of these rooms has a shower/bathtubs and face the park.26 rooms dubbed ‘club’ are larger and come with a shower and a bathtub. The remaining 24 face the park and the other two the city. 

Restaurant

The hotel has a large Big 5 restaurant with indoor seating and a terrace overlooking the Nairobi National Park. You will also find the Waterhouse sports bar, The Stakehouse and the Ngong Pool Bar.

The hotel is owned by Mr Kul Bhakoo and his three friends Bobby Jandu of Allied Plumbers, Mso Dave Bola, a Zambian and Nazir Noobin, a businessman. 

The building was initially owned by the US Government but was purchased by the four friends. They decided to turn it into a hotel. To finance this project, they secured a loan from a local bank.
