Victor Maina: Vast Business Empire Owned By Mathai Supermarket Chain Founder

Mathai Supermarket chain is owned by Victor Maina, a Thika based businessman. The billionaire has spread his tentacles in almost all the sectors of the economy having heavily  invested in real estate, quarries in Juja, entertainment joints and construction companies.

Mathai Supermarket Chain

The giant retailer has eight stores in total. According to their ‘About’ section on Facebook, the supermarket has outlets in Nairobi, Thika, Embu, Meru, Karatina and Nyeri.

Entertainment Club

Victor Maina owns Klub Image Hotel in Thika. According to booking.com, the hotel rooms are fitted with a balcony, a flat screen TV and guests are served with continental breakfast. 

Klub Liquid Cash Thika

Another popular joint in Thika that is owned by Victor Maina is Klub Liquid Cash also in Thika. The club has rooms for guests although their prices are not available on booking.com. 

Building along Ronald Ngala Street

The businessman owns the storeyed building that hosts Mathai Supermarket in Nairobi, along Ronald Ngala Street. 

Other Buildings He Owns

According to a well placed source who sought anonymity, the businessman owns over 20 flats. Most of the flats are in Thika. 

Land in Thika

He owns a 17 acre piece of land in Thika that has been a subject of protracted court cases. The land, worth kes300 million, was sold to Victor Maina by Gatundu parliamentary seat aspirant, Mr Kariuki Muiruri in 2008 for kes9 million. According to court documents, the tycoon only paid Sh2 million and failed to pay the balance after the agreed 30 days. Mr Kariuki told him to collect the deposit and rescinded the contract. On his part, Mathai told the court he paid the balance and insisted that the land belongs to him.

Jack and Jill Building

The businessman bought the building that was formerly hosted Jack Jill Supermarket in 2006 for a sum of kes76 million.
