Rose Mambo is an experienced executive with over 25 years working in various top institutions. She has an enviable experience in governance, capital markets, administration and company law. She has been appointed the board chairperson of Airtel Money Kenya. Her appointment comes after Airtel Money became independent from Airtel Networks Kenya and transferred to Airtel Money Kenya Limited.
Here is her career journey as told by WoK.
Education
The experienced executive has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma from Kenya School of Law, a Master of Laws in International Business Law from American University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Strathmore Business School.
Career
From May 1993 to July 2000, she served as a senior state counsel at the office of the Attorney General.
In August 2000, she joined the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) as the company secretary and head of legal and compliance. She left to become the Chief Executive Officer of Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC).
She became CEO of SDSC after the retirement of the founding CEO, Peter Waiyaki in 2007. As the first female CEO of the organization, she served in this position for 12 years before retiring. During her time as CEO, the firm presided over the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) in East and Central Africa. This was the Safaricom Initial Public Offering of 2008. The same year, it also facilitated the first automated bond in the region, KenGen bond.
During her time at the helm of the company, active accounts expanded from 520,920 when she took over to 1.55 million in 2019. In 2017, the firm was contracted as the issuing and paying agent of the Government retail mobile traded bond, M-Kiba. She retired from the company in 2019

On 27th July 2022, she was appointed the chairperson of Airtel Money Kenya.
