A 30-year-old man has inspired Kenyans after showing a house that he built using savings from his boda boda business.
In an interview with a local online news blog, Jones Nyaberi said his 1.5 million house in Kisii took him three years to build, although it is yet to be completed.
Nyaberi disclosed that he built the house using savings from his Boda Boda hustle which he started after failing to secure a job after completing his diploma.
He said he first engaged in farming and made KSh 60,000 from cabbage farming which he used to buy his first motorcycle.
Nyaberi later joined a SACCO which encouraged him to save so he could empower himself.
Before building his house, the Boda Boda rider first constructed a house for their parents who lived in a mud house.
“I saved up some money and then started building my house’s foundation. However, my parents lived in a dilapidated mud-walled house, and so I stopped building mine first and went to construct my parents a better house,” Nyaberi said.
After completion of his parents’ house, he re-embarked on the construction of his house which is now almost ready for occupation.
“It is a three-bedroomed house with a store, kitchen and living room. It has so far cost me KSh 1.5 million. I believe saving really helped me achieve my goals. I am also financially disciplined owning to the education I received while taking my accounting diploma,” Nyaberi said.
Bevalyne Kwamboka builds her parents a house
In other news, viral chips ‘mwitu’ seller, Bevalyne Kwamboka recently gifted her parents a newly constructed house.
In an update on her Twitter page, Kwamboka thanked her clients and brands which advertised through her, noting that as such, she has been able to construct her parents a house.
“To all chipo mwitu supporters and brands/ clients that have always trusted my brand to advertise/market your products and services thank you very important mama and papa are happy wako na mansion sasa,” she wrote.
In June 2022, Kwamboka was all smiles after connecting electricity to her parents’ home, and thanked her clients for the support.
“To all my chipo mwitu supporters, we did it! Your small-small profits zimedropia wazazi wangu stima. Ile quotation Kenya Power walinipea. But we made it,” she wrote online.
