Lilian Muli is one of the top news anchors and TV show hosts in Kenya. She not only reads news but makes news as well. Her beauty, presence and endearing voice has kept many glued to the screen. The sultry TV siren has interviewed a good number of famous people in Kenya and beyond, such as, Mike Ezuruonye, Lupita Nyong’o and many others. Many identify her with her signature hairstyle that is the same year in year out. In fact, a while back many speculated that she is hiding a scar behind the fringe hairstyle. However, at one time she posted a picture having shaved off her hair and there was no scar to be seen.
Age
The news anchor was born on 4th May 1982 in Kenya. During one of her birthdays, popular musician Harmonize surprised her with the “Happy Birthday to You” song live on TV.
Family
She is the second born and only girl in a family of three children.
Her father Henry Muli is deceased and was a very prominent lawyer. Peninah Muli, her mother is still alive and lives in Bangkok, Thailand.
Education
The talented presenter went to Lavington Primary School before proceeding to Loreto Convent Msongari. She later attended Daystar University for a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Newscasting before going to the University of Nairobi for a degree in Strategic Management.
Career
Lilian started her career at the Standard Media Group in 2005 where she interned in the production department. She tried and failed so many screen tests until she managed to impress a panel of judges after being sent to deliver scripts. This opened the doors for her to present news on screen in KTN where she worked for six years.
In 2010, she joined Royal Media Services as a Citizen TV anchor and host where she works to date. The most famous shows she has hosted on Citizen TV include: one on one, slim possible and fashion watch. Currently, she is a senior prime time news anchor on Citizen TV.
Marriage
On 28th November 2008, Kenya witnessed a ‘telenovela’ play on their screens. Moses Njuguna Kanene walked into Kenya Television Network right after Lilian finished presenting news with a bouquet of flowers, bent on one knee and proposed to her.
The couple tied the knot in 2009 at the prestigious Windsor Golf Club in a pink and white themed wedding. The colorful ceremony was followed with a honeymoon to Seychelles and Lilian added Kanene to her name.
Divorce
Five years into the marriage, gossip about a separation began to spread. Lilian dropped the name Kanene and reverted back to her father”s name ‘Muli.’ In 2016, the Citizen TV anchor filed for a divorce. Adultery, cruelty and desertion were cited as reasons for the divorce.
Love
The popular show host found love again in Jared Nevaton and so did her ex husband with Grace Nungari. She wished her ex all the best:
“ They look good together and I really don’t have anything more to say. We’ve been separated seven years dear. Plus, why should I deny him happiness and I found happiness too? It’s all good.”
Once, in a moment of weakness-if not frustration-, Lilian Muli called Jared a community husband. Later, she apologized for making these remarks.
Children
The lovely TV siren is a mother to two sons, Joshua Kanene from her previous marriage was born in 2010. Liam, whose father is Jared was born in 2018 and Anne Kiguta made the announcement on Sunday while they were introducing the then new Citizen TV anchors:
“ We have just been informed Lilian Muli has been blessed with a baby boy,” revealed Anne Kiguta.
Salary
Lilian gets a good salary of not less than kes300,000 working as a senior prime time news anchor on Citizen TV.
