Turaco Trans County Resort: Inside Rural Vihiga Resort Where Two Presidents Spent A Night

According to legend, the last man who tried to split the rock died the next day. The surface of the rock has a footprint-shaped groove believed by locals to be the footprint of Jesus.

The nearby forests are home to a bird sanctuary located just 5 minutes from the hotel. Populated with birds of many different kinds, the sanctuary is a bird watcher’s happy place.

One of Turaco’s notable achievements includes hosting VVIPs who attended the 2022 Africity Summit in Kisumu.

Among the delegates Turaco hosted include the former president of Mozambique, Mr. Joaquim Chissano, the former president of Seychelles Mr. Danny Faure, Alain Claude who is the sitting prime minister of Gabon, and several diplomats and ambassadors.

According to Mr. Kayeli, the operations manager, the delegates planted trees at the hotel and promised to return.

The relationship between the Resort and the neighboring community is superb.

According to Mr. Mweresa, the general manager, the resort established a water reservoir to supply water to the community and neighboring schools as a way of giving back.

When it comes to food, Turaco Resort prides itself on offering an array of delicious and locally sourced organic meals.

Under the tested culinary art of head chef Joel Masidza and his team, guests can Indulge in the flavors of kuku kienyeji, arrowroot, cassava, sweet potatoes, boiled maize, and many other mouthwatering dishes.

To satisfy every craving, they also offer five different cuisines, including African, Chinese, Italian, Indian, and American.

The food is sourced locally via tenders from neighbors.
