Mrs. Ennie Lumbasi: What Inspired US Based Kenyan To Build House On Top Of Apartment

Kenyans took to social media to share photos and videos of a penthouse constructed on top of an apartment in Zimmerman, behind Airport Tanners area.

The penthouse christened Bradijon Mansion elicited interesting reactions from a section of social media users who either found the design a stroke of genius while others raised concerns of tenants safety.

Speaking to a local media house, Mrs Ennie Lumbasi stated that the she had the idea to build apartments and penthouse on top.

The US based landlady shared this idea with her builder who told her it was possible, the time it would take to construct and the materials needed.

According to Ennie, the contractor, Steven Wangeci, has over 25 years experience in the construction industry.

“…I had one plot. So to maximize space….I wanted a house and an apartment so I told him let us to the house on top and down apartments”, she shared.

The house took a period of four years to construct.

Asked how much it cost, she said it was in millions of shillings. The mansion has four bedrooms.

The building has a total of 40 bedsitters, which have been fully occupied.

“When the tenants were enquiring about the building, they were asking about a few issues, including security because of the location, but once they moved in, they don’t want to relocate,” she was quoted by a local blog.

The mother of three grew up in Zimmerman and this what inspired her to buy in the area so that she could be near her childhood home.
