Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has named the owner of the car in a viral video flaunting traffic rules.

The car was recorded on video and showed two men hanging precariously from the windows.

Taking on his X account, the CS hinted that action would be taken soon.

“Mr. James Gathogo Njeri this is how your car white Mercedes Benz KCX 959B class E-250 was being driven on Mombasa road in one of those “where is the Minister” moments. We are concerned and a responsible citizen has alerted us. We shall do what we must,” Murkomen said.

The actions of the two men triggered outrage as the video of the dangerous stunts trended online.

Many netizens pointed out the risk they were getting themselves and other road users.

They also pointed out the increase in road accidents in Kenya and blamed such reckless actions as the cause of deaths on Kenyan roads.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) said about 1,189 lives were lost in road accidents in the last three months.

In the report seen by WoK, the accidents are from January 1 to April 1.

Among the 7,198 Kenyans, NTSA reveals that 1,189 perished from road accidents, 3,316 were seriously injured and 2,693 got minor injuries.
