Celebrated news anchor Victoria Rubadiri is leaving Citizen TV after six years at the Royal Media-owned television station.
Rubadiri, according to reports is serving her notice with this weekend being her final show.
The award-winning journalist will join CNN as its Africa correspondent.
Rubadiri hosts Citizen Weekend on Saturdays and Sunday Live with Jeff Koingange on Sundays.
The news anchor joins a list of journalists who have left the station for new pursuits.
Journalists who left Citizen TV include Hassan Mugambi, Chemutai Goin and Francis Gachuri.
Rubadiri won the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award in 2020.
The award allowed her to attend a training course with the BBC Academy and join the News team for three months.
She has previously worked with the Nation Media Group-owned NTV anchoring NTV Weekend alongside Larry Madowo who is currently at CNN.
The versatile journalist is also a moderator and moderated high-profile events like the East African Business Council Summit in Arusha.
Victoria Rubadiri graduated with a bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism at Temple University in Philadelphia in 2009.
She was born on January 28 1987 in Nairobi and raised by a Malawian father and a Kenyan mother.
Victoria’s grandfather James David Rubadiri was the vice Chancellor of Malawi University.
James was a Malawian poet praised for his memorable literary works among them Poems from East Africa, No Bride Price, come to Tea and An African Thunderstorm.
