Kenyans on social media have been touched by a photo of a delivery rider working during heavy rains.
In a photo shared by Larry Madowo, the rider with one of the major delivery companies is seen soaked in rain as he manoeuvred the traffic.
Larry showed concern about the rider risking his life in the heavy rains.
“Acheni kutesa wasee wa delivery,” Larry Madowo tweeted.
Netizens shared their opinion concerning the photo with many impressed by his courage.
Others said he had no choice as that was what placed food on his table.
“Wako job msee. Usipowaitia shugli watakula wapi?” – MVI shared.
“They deserve umbrellas and raincoats,” – Ohhunny said.
“Even this is better, I’ve seen the ones on bicycles riding in the rain and they don’t even have raincoats and I’ve judged every company using them,” – Kukie added.
A netizen suggested that delivery riders should charge more during extreme weather.
“I disagree and this is where the Kenyan middle class fails miserably. Some people depend on a daily income. Delivery guys should upcharge for risking their lives at a time like this,” Tony added.
Heavy rains and flash floods have left more than 103 people dead, 29 injured, 21 people missing, 150,365 people (30,073 families) displaced and nearly 191,000 affected across the country as of 28 April, according to the National Disaster Operations Centre (NDOC).
Flash floods have occurred in Nairobi, Makueni, West Pokot and Machakos Counties resulting in loss of lives, properties and disruption of services.
