Lawyer Miguna Miguna has defended Larry Madowo from critics and Kenyan government officials.
Larry has been facing backlash for exposing the dire state of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In recent weeks he has clashed with the Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen who accused him of being unpatriotic and thriving on painting Kenya negatively to the world.
On Wednesday, May 1, Larry again hit at Murkomen after a blackout at JKIA.
“Blackout right now at JKIA, hours after Kenya’s Transport minister toured it and said they had “stabilized the electricity supply,” Larry posted.
The latest post by Larry led to a heated debate with some asking the CNN journalist to tone down the criticism and let the CS work.
Miguna disagreed with the critics and said the journalist was justified in reporting the situation as it was not fake or manufactured news.
The controversial lawyer also added that CNN did not hire Larry to be patriotic but to report accurately.
“Those attacking CNN’s LarryMadowo for reporting on Kenya are wrong. The attacks would be fair and merited if Madowo were manufacturing news, spreading fake news, distorting, or sensationalizing events,”
“However, reporting ACCURATELY on something some people may perceive as “negative news” is perfectly justified. Such reports expose things that need to be corrected, or resolved, for the benefit of Kenyans,” he said.
Madowo joined CNN in 2021 as its Nairobi-based correspondent.
Madowo was promoted to CNN International correspondent and also anchored the weekly program ‘One World’.
