Leo Odoyo Obambo, a 57-year-old fine artist has revealed how much he makes from his art.

Obambo, from Migori, has also volunteered to mentor youth in learning and practising fine arts to earn a living.

According to KNA, the artist has been working for 30 years and offers services such as murals, portraits, drawings, and signage.

Obambo earns between KSh 75 000 and KSh 80 000 monthly.

He said he is willing to link the youth who undergo training and mentorship to his clients and customers across Kenya.

He believes this will start their career in fine art.

Recently, the talented artist developed a ground model for a project.

Obambo said the project took him four days and earned him KSh. 35,000.

He learnt fine art skills from a village polytechnic in Migori in 1989.

The art business has helped him fend for his nine children.

Obambo says art pays and is a good career to pursue.

“Art pays, you can be a fine artist, you can be a mural artist, wildlife artist and you can even sell your products online,” he said.

WoK previously covered the inspirational story of Charity Thuranira who was denied her full salary after working for four months.

Charity took the KSh 5,000 she was paid and put it towards starting Samara Homes, an interior design business in Meru town.

To kickstart her business, Charity rented a shop in Gakoromone, downtown Meru, where she obtained her first client.

That client entrusted her with the responsibility of finishing his house, setting her on the path to success.

She emphasizes that her journey was guided by divine grace and a deep connection with her faith.
