Mutegi Njau one of Kenya’s most beloved journalists has died.
His death was confirmed by his family who revealed he died in his sleep on Thursday, June 27 at around 7 pm.
“Dad was a remarkable man whose generosity, sense of humour, and dedication to his career left a lasting impact on everyone he met,” the family said.
The family said they are planning his funeral and will share more details.
“We are currently in the process of arranging his funeral and will share the details within the next day or two. Your presence would be greatly appreciated as we gather to honour his memory,”
“During this difficult time, please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and for the love and friendship you extended to Dad throughout his life,” the family added.
Late in May 2024, the veteran journalist was hospitalised after getting a stroke.
His son Ronald also shared that the family was having a difficult time managing the hospital bills.
“For those who may not be aware, my father, Mutegi Njau, experienced a stroke two weeks ago and has since been in intensive care,”
“During this difficult period, our family profoundly appreciates your prayers for his rapid recovery and support for us. We are also facing challenges managing the hospital expenses and would be grateful for any financial assistance you can offer.” Ronald said.
Mutegi is remembered fondly for his time on Citizen TV’s Cheche show where he was the resident political analyst.
He has also worked with the Nation Media Group.
On Wednesday, May 29, Kenyans woke up to the news of the death of veteran journalist Shadrack Mitty.
Mitty was working with the Standard Group before his death.
