Rex Kanyike Masai who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer has been buried.

The young protestor was laid to rest at Kamuthanga village in Machakos County on Friday, July 5.

His emotional father, Chris Odawa described him as a humble young man and was devastated to lose his firstborn child.

“It is so painful to lose my firstborn child for no reason. On that fateful day, it was just a phone call away and Rex was no more,” he said.

Rex’s mother, Gillian Odawa, angrily blamed the police for her son’s death and cursed the one who shot him.

“To the policeman who fired a bullet in my son’s body, I think you are happy now, but remember God CAN be bribed. You will pay with your own blood. May your FOURTH-GENERATION never know peace,” she said

Rex’s burial was attended by friends, activists and senior opposition politicians.

Among those who attended were Boniface Mwangi, Babu Owino, Eugene Wamalwa, Edwin Sifuna, Alfred Keter and Kalonzo Musyoka among others.

“Attending the burial ceremony of Rex Kanyike Masai at Machakos. Rex will be remembered as a hero who paid the ultimate price to liberate Kenyans.” Babu Owino said.
