Ferdinand Omanyala has comfortably sailed through to the semi-finals at the Paris Olympic Games by winning his heat easily in 10.08.

Africa’s fastest man arrived at the Stade de France with the second fastest time in the world this season.

Omanyala is one of Kenya’s major medal prospects in the 2024 Olympics.

The sprinter said he was looking forward to the semis and hopes to give his best.

“We are in a championship you don’t want to burn yourself out. Today was just about enjoying it, introducing yourself to the world and now, tomorrow is where the work is at,”

Now I feel like I haven’t run. Tomorrow I will come in fresh and hope for a good race.” Omanyala said.

Italian Chituru Ali finished second in the heat with Joshua Hartmann from Germany in third.

The trio automatically qualify for the semi-finals.

Omanyala has revealed that Kenyans never took him seriously when he started sprinting.

The country in athletics has enjoyed more success in middle and long-distance racing.

When Omanayala and Mark Otieno qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 minds started to change.

Sadly for Otieno, he was disqualified for two years for using a banned substance.
