Kenyatta University Announces Free ICT Courses, How To Apply

Kenyatta University will be introducing free short courses for continuing and alumni students.

The institution made the announcement on Monday, January 20, that through its ICT Professional Training and Certification Centre, it will be offering various courses within the field.

The courses include Introduction to Modern Al, Introduction to Data Science, Operating Systems Basics Digital Awareness, and Introduction to Cybersecurity.

“Kenyatta University in partnership with IBM is offering the attached short courses at the Main Campus, City, Nakuru, Embu, Kitui, Mombasa, and Mama Ngina University College,” KU stated.

The courses will be available in three formats; full-time, part-time and weekend-only, to cater to various schedules and learning preferences.

Interested applicants will be required to scan a QR code provided by the institutions that generates a simple online application form. They will then use their KU student email addresses to enrol. They will be able to register in multiple courses by filling out the application form again.

Alumni students will be required to attach a document as proof of their enrollment at the institution.

“To earn a certificate from Cisco for a course, one needs to complete the course and complete the course survey at the end of the course (Mandatory),” the post read.

Cisco is a global technology corporation renowned for providing innovative solutions in networking, cybersecurity, telecommunications, cloud computing and other advanced technology fields. The company offers certifications to professionals seeking to advance their careers in networking.

How to apply:

Applicants are reminded that the courses are only available to Kenyatta University students.

1. First, navigate to KU’s new eCitizen page on https://ku.ecitizen.go.ke

2. Scroll down to Online Applications and select “Application for ICT Certification Courses”

3. Fill in your eCitizen account credentials to log in and apply

4. Individuals over 18 years of age without an eCitizen account are required to create an account via the “Sign Up” button on the page.

5. Those under 18 years of age can request their parents or guardians to log in on their behalf and initiate the application form.

6. In case of any challenges with your application, you are advised to contact KU via email for more assistance.

The institution has stated that applicants must pay a Ksh. 700 application fee which should be deposited to National Bank account 01003059150800.
