Mau Forest complex is the largest indigenous montane forest in East Africa. The water tower has been at the centre of controversy over the years as efforts to save it from extinction has been met by resistance from a section of political leaders.
We take a look at the prominent Kenyans who own large tracts of land in the Mau Forest. According to the list, 18,516 title deeds issued in 2001-or more than 80 percent-were issued irregularly or to undeserving people. Most of the land was allocated to the late President Daniel arap Moi and his cronies as the list below attests.
