Aileen Ogolla: General Ogolla’s Widow Emotionally Hands Over Leadership of Military Wives Association

The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) held a colourful handing-over ceremony.

This handing over comes after the recent promotions and appointments of General Officers by President William Ruto.

In the latest changes, General Charles Muriu Kahariri was appointed Chief of Defence Forces.

Lieutenant General John Omenda was made the Vice Chief of Defence Forces.

According to KDF, MWAK leadership borrows heavily from the KDF structure, the same changes were effected in the Association.

The outgoing Chairperson Aileen Ogolla handed over the mantle to Grace Kahariri.

In her farewell speech, Mrs Ogolla expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fellow MWAK members and the office staff.

She thanked them for their unwavering commitment to the cause and support throughout her term.

Mrs Ogolla said that incredible friendships were built along the way.

She encouraged the members to channel the same spirit to the incoming chair.

Mrs Ogolla praised the new chair as capable and passionate about making a positive difference for women and the families of the KDF personnel.

Mrs Ogolla further assured the incoming leaders of her availability should they need to consult her on matters of welfare. of

“I look forward to seeing this organization morph into something bigger and register even more achievements. As I step down I’d like to say thank you for making it a pleasure to serve you,” she said.

The incoming chairperson Grace Kahariri thanked Mrs. Aileen Ogolla for her vision and noble projects.

The projects have benefited diverse groups among them youths, widows and wives of both serving and retired soldiers.

She pledged her commitment to further the mission of MWAK during her term and urged her fellow members to showcase team spirit and harmony for the betterment of the KDF families.
