She is arguably one of the most bankable artists in Kenya. Akothee has remained relevant over the years, her many controversies notwithstanding.
With her music taking backstage, the artist had to deal with a painful heartbreak made even more painful by slide remarks from Kenyans on social media.
She weathered this storm and went ahead to graduate at the Mount Kenya University with a degree in business management.
The celebrated artist went on to open a school in her village to provide a safe learning environment from the locality. Here is what WoK has gathered about the institution.
Akothee Academy and how to apply
The academy is located in Rakwaro Kanyawendo, Migori county. For beginners, the institution is now accepting kindergarten, primary and junior high. Currently, kindergarten classes (PP1 and PP2) have opened.
The required documents are,
Birth certificate, a passport, leaving certificate, passport pictures (2 copies), parent’s ID/Passport, transfer letters, students pass (for international students, report cards and payment slips.

Construction of the Akothee Academy
The construction of the academy in Rongo commenced in October 2022. An elated Akothee, then teaming with her then Swiss lover Omondi, made announcement of the project on social media on October 31, 2022
Her post read at the time,
“Commander in Chief Mr Omosh @misteromosh assessing our new project. We are fixing these streets. I can now say I have all that I have ever asked God. Now I can rest. Thanks, honey for trusting my ability,” Akothee shared at the time.

Even after Omondi, whose nationality has been the subject of discussion, exited Akothee’s life, the project did not slow down.
Launching Akothee Academy
The institution was launched by Ida Odinga on December 11, 2023 amid pomp and color. Other notable personalities who graced the event were Migori county First Lady Agnes Ochillo, her Kisumu counterpart Dorothy Nyongo, lawyer Silas Jakakimba.
Akothee’s parents, Josy and Yunita Kokeyo were also present.
